Our commitment to equity.

i3 Works is committed to learning, growing, and acting on our moral imperative to understand equity.

We understand the importance of the following:

  • Embedded within data practices are assumptions and expectations that become part of the process of data collection, analysis, and interpretation.  By not being explicit about these, bias is often introduced into the evaluative process in both explicit and implicit ways.

  • It is important to understand those whose experiences are reflected in the data - particularly members of different racial, ethnic and cultural groups.

  • When presenting and reporting data, methods should be taken to avoid “blaming the victim”, particularly if it's information on poor outcomes for historically marginalized communities.  It is important to understand that the context which data is reported can mean the difference between using data to raise awareness of disparity or to justify discrimination.

i3 Works actively follows the burgeoning field of equitable data practices and we are committed to applying its principles, asking the critical questions, and challenging our own practices to ensure that both our work and yours has deep and meaningful impact on the communities we live in and care about.
